Vogel is National Merit Scholar

Collinsville High School senior Cannon Vogel has been named to one of the nation’s top scholastic honors as a National Merit Scholarship recipient. Joined last week for a special presentation at CHS, Vogel is flanked above right by his parents Mitzi and Rick Vogel and by Superintendent of Schools Lance West, left and CHS Principal Jon Coleman, right. Below left are a few of the certificates presented to Cannon this year as he was named Academic All-State, his National Merit certificate and a proclamation from the Oklahoma State House of Representatives. Far right, Cannon was wearing his MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) shirt, where he has been accepted. Cannon also scored a perfect score on his ACT Tests. -- Times Star photos

JOM Program Gets National Award

The Collinsville Schools’ Johnson O’Malley Indian Education Program was nominated and awarded an Exemplary Award by the National Johnson O’Malley Association in Portand, Oregon. Parent Committee member Kathy Sampley and Indian Education Director Janice Fields, holding the plaque, accepted the award on behalf of the Collinsville JOM Program. Janice would like to thank the staff and parent committee for their hard work on an Exemplary Program.
