Cardinal Scramble event is Monday, June 8th Some 80 golfers are expected to gather at The Greens / Owasso Golf & Athletic Club in Owasso next Monday as the 17th Annual Collinsville Education Foundation puts on its John Butts Memorial Cardinal Scramble tournament. The four-person scramble event is expected to begin at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start at 13604 East 84th Street North. Team arrival time is a suggested 9 a.m. registration. The $75 per person entry fee includes green fee, cart, lunch and enrollment for prizes. The CEF is a 501C3 tax deductible organization so part of the entry fee is tax deductible, officials reminded this week. Since the organization’s founding in 1998, the CEF has donated, due to fundraisers like the golf event, nearly $250,000 to the Collinsville Public Schools’ teacher grants allowing the purchase of materials and equipment that assists the academic achievement of Collinsville students. If you haven’t entered yet, you’re not too late. You can call one of the Golf Fund Raising Committee listed in the flyer published in today’s Times Star or you can show up at the golf course on Monday and possibly still participate. Hole sponsorships are also still available from $100 to $1,000. -- Ted Wright / cvilleok.com / Times Star photo

IT WAS a busy news week for Collinsville. Soccer teams held homecoming with the queen and her court pictured above. From the left are Shelby West, Joelle Nelson, Lauren Wilson, Kylie Overholt, Queen Kaylee Sykes, Cason Overholt, Megan Bell and Courtney Wilson. Escorts and King included Gage Powers, Rylan Dilling, King Evan Zue, Cesar Perez and Cole Hadley. Far right, a car was found floating in the Caney Valley River north of Collinsville. When recovered, the body of Rafael Hernandez-Torres was discovered in the trunk with multiple gun shot wounds in an apparent murder. Rogers County is investigating. And against Grove on May 1st, Colllinsville’s Hayden Wichmann pitched a no-hitter at Pat Colpitt Field. Car photo was submitted. Others by Norman Van Sickle.
